Yo-yo Ma’s album Piazzolla with this song Libertango is one of my favorites amongst many of his other work, such as Bach and Ennio Morricone. His music is enchanting, captivating and earnest. Not dramatized nor pretentious. Every note calls out to my heart, to dance with it, to resonate with it, and be wrapped up in its richness, grandeur, life, and magic. It’s the kind of music that can shake the earth and move the heaven because it’s so purely good. It was his Bach that opened my eyes to Baroque music (only when he’s playing though) and modern dance on the same night. I find peace and inspiration in the sound of his cello. And tonight, I found strength, passion, and determination.
