Rueda on Mosaic
Every Sunday afternoon, a group of salsa enthusiasts gather on the mosaic floor in front of Gas Works Park to dance Rueda de Casino. Rueda is a form of Cuban salsa where pairs dance in a circle. It’s quite interesting because you are dancing with a partner and with a big party of people. I’ve often seen a circle of women dancing Rueda since it’s not mandatory to have male leads. I don’t really understand the difference between music for Rueda de Casino and regular salsa, but I love their music.
This is my second set of people in action that I’ve done in black and white (slide show). The first set was on kids at the Seattle Center fountain. Even though I’m losing the vibrant colors of the dancers and the mosaic, but I think B&W helps focusing on the energy of the subjects.
